Most people who have never worked online have one big question lingering on their minds? If I work online, how do I get paid?

There is a simple answer to this question. Most payments from Online Freelancing are made through virtual platforms and semi-virtual platforms. More often than not, payment is remitted to a freelancer’s account after the approval of the submitted work by the client or the virtual company that the freelancer works for or works through to access clients. In some instances, clients must fund a milestone/ make some payment for a section of the work done, before the freelancer completes the entire task. With some payment methods, a freelancer may need to transfer the funds into another account where s/he can access cash.

Below is a list (not exhaustive) of the modes of payment in Online Freelancing.

  • Direct Bank Deposits
  • Western Union Money Transfer
  • Mobile Money Transfers such as Mpesa
  • Cheque
